im so out of shape and wushu is kicking my ass. over the summer sifu visited chinese wushu teams and got inspired so he's now sharing that inspiration with us.

last night i spent ~5 hours putting noir - melodie on my phone as the ringtone. the phone cant handle the highest notes and it goes to answering machine before the whole song plays, but it's awesome nonetheless. XD

*biiiiiiig sigh of mental and physical exhaustion* i'm very tired and bandwidth limit makes me sad. -___________- my roomie already got cut off yesterday cuz he forgot to limit his upload. heh, dl'd ~3.5gb in a couple hours. uploaded about the same. today i woke up well enough and cleaned up for my first day at school. i even brushed my teeth. then i went to math and sat in a packed lecture hall and very nearly fell asleep. then i went to math discussion where the GSI didnt show up. (btw, what does GSI stand for?) instead i read a funny magazine, some people played cards, and a lot of people left. after that i beat the shipyard level in rainbow six 3: raven shield. then i went to cs61a which was cool. learned a little about scheme. found out i bought the wrong book. ran/walked to the bookswap where i got the last one for 20$ cheaper than the regular bookstore. i think it has all the right pages but i havent looked yet. went down to southside to find my roommate as i had left my keys in the room and had no way of getting in. i failed at that cuz he's very sneaky and while i was trudging back to the dorm, drained and weary this lady from children international sensed my weakness and pounced. unable to think straight and maintain my air of icy hearted indifference i signed up to give 18$ per month to this little girl

her name is Dalida Minerva Sepulveda Matos, a seriously kickass name if i ever saw one. i also got a lot of info on columbia about how poor they are in a further attempt to bleed more green from me. i only ever planned to give them one month of donations, but i learned i can demand a full refund. now i must ask myself: should i just let them keep the 18$ and possibly change a little girl's life forever? or should i demand my money back from the poor and maintain my reputation of being a soulless, inhuman hater of people and little kids in particular?

went to see batman begins after school. i was never a really big fan of super heroes but apparantly it is very faithful to the comics.

the League of Shadows ninjas were really tight. much cooler than batman could ever hope to be. they had sweet armor and used swords and bombs and stealth and cool masks and stuff. they would have made really sick crime fighters if they ran around slaying villians instead of just wiping out decadent societies.

alfred is always cool, especially when he's played by a fatherly english dood.

the batmobile was gay.

the music was epic but immemorable.

for some reason i really liked seeing the hordes of swat and mounted riot cops marching into the Narrows. it just looked really cool! \^_^/ and the movies are using g36 a lot now. such an awesome weapon. i want one...

the presentation went quite well, i think. we dressed up in pirate hats and eye patches to get in the mood. will had a hook and i had a bandanna. it was rather entertaining, if hard to follow because i had to speak so quickly. i even skipped a lot of the fun details.

something really big went down today around 6th period. there was a firetruck, 4 ambulances and an extra 'superviser' police car. the police car had a whole lotta binders with info on the highschools and other stuff in the back seat instead of places for bad people. it also had a lot of heavy weapons: big heavy flashlight, extra beatstick, standard shotgun, m4 carbine, grenade launcher. a little much for an irvine highschool cop, methinks. i dont even know what happened.

heh, in calc today we watched 'stand and deliver'.

we also learned how to make ribbons are curly. apparently there was a math department 'emergency'. they're throwing a mrs. huber a baby shower and whoever was planning it couldnt finish the decorations for some reason. calc students = free, captive labor.

went to Camporee for the day. it was fun, we built this huge gateway consisting of 2 watch towers and a bridge between them. it was completely assembled using poles and ropes and pioneering techniques. it looked very unstable but it held up quite nicely. even with half a dozen boys on it it stayed in one piece. best gateway ever.

i am now an eagle scout! i just got back from my board of review and they passed me. now my application just has to go to national level to get officialized and stuff and then sent back to me. i started scouts in 1st grade so this is like 10+ years of my life. we were standing around chatting afterward and i couldnt remember the fun crazy things we'd done. i cant remember a lot of things and it kinda worries me. how will i ever tell my grandchildren about 'back in the day' if i cant remember to back in the day?

hmm, it would seem that i have not posted for some time now. i shall now correct this.

today was kinda good. i took a nap yesterday so i woke up at 7 and couldnt go back to sleep. read some manga.

for some reason comp prog felt really relaxed. i guess its cuz its long block and im done with this lesson. studied for mythology test tomorrow.

chem also felt relaxed. did a temperature/gas pressure lab. watched water heat up and then cool down. most exciting.

calc was less fun. i dont get sets and sequences at all. im gonna get raped on the test.

apparantly i disappeared last weekend without telling anyone. well i went to lake tahoe with my cousins to ski. it snowed a lot so that was really cool, lotsa fresh soft powder. we took a detour through a shitload of the stuff but went through it slowly instead of skimming over it really fast. as a result we fell in it many times and got stuck and wasted lots of energy and had not fun.

i have a lot of homework today and im really tired.

hmm, i haven't posted in quite a while. i blame wow ^^

for some crazy reason i dont feel like sleeping right now so i think i'll burn some time here.

i finally finished watching haibane renmei! its really good! really really good! if you havent already you should go watch it now. i really liked the story, which has a lot to do with accepting help from others and forgiveness. usually i'd say 13 eps is too short but haibane renmei doesn't spend too much time on side stories so the main plot moves along nicely and isn't rushed. the music is pretty but softer and not overpowering like kajiura yuki's, which isn't bad, i love her work, it just tends to draw my focus away from the animation. the ending theme blue flow is reminiscent of raspberry heaven ^^. and its got halos and stuff! () XD

comp prog is kinda saddening. we pretty much just follow the book's directions with little to no direction from shelton. the book moves pretty slowly and doesn't do a very thorough job. we get about a week for each lesson and it only takes me a couple days to finish each one. we get a bunch of worksheets at the start of the each lesson so i've gotten 2 lessons ahead cuz i haven't got the worksheets to do.

la la la, wasting space!

it's 2nd semester now so i should just be coasting but annoyingly i seem to have finally gotten into my school groove. im even reading the books and studying for tests. wish i'd done this last semester when it really counted >_<

i want a rocket launcher! or a helicopter! or both!

i haven't really got anything else worth saying right now so i'm gonna not go to sleep now!

a while ago i played the Game of Life, Pirate Version, with my cousins. its like the regular game but you get a boat instead of a car, a captain instead of a spouse, and a ship mascot instead of kids. as youre going along you pick up treasure and sometimes you can "raid" another player. you attack with the spinner and your ships attack power and if you win you steal some of their treasure. i realized that it was much more interesting than regular life. so now im gonna be a pirate. arr.

so i spent most of the day playing homeworld2, right? and im on the mission where makaan and his big ass fleet shows up to beat the living shit out of me, right? so i try to fortify myself with turrets and mines and fancy battle lines to get ready for the massive pain aimed at my head. well i fend off the first couple waves (didnt get as many mines out as id hoped) and then everything goes to shit when i try to capture a battlecruiser. capping those things is really fucking hard cuz you gotta disable so it doesnt shoot your marine frigates or your other stuff and you gotta tell your guys not to blow it to pieces. i manage to cap a tricked out BC but its nearly dead and i lose my plain one so i come out with less than i started with. now it gets really bad. the fuckers hit me with a flank attack that goes around my defense straight at my mothership. i send all my frigates and bombers after them and blow them up before they can get my REMFs but its still bad cuz now theyre rushing my face with twice as many BCs and destroyers and half my stuff is in the back. about this time i realize half my marine and defense field frigates mysteriously dissappeared along with most of my miner/repair drones. i manage to kill the first fuckers but theres always more so i just send my guys out to destroy what they can before going up in a blaze of glory. they didnt get very far. so anyways this whole time im pausing the game every 5 seconds so i can give orders to my ships without my comp smoking from keeping track of everything and so i can keep track of the situation. after i quit hw2 i start getting hit with IMs and i try to hit 'pause' after every couple so i can organize my counter attack.

god i love computer games!

went to jgtc today with my cousins. saw lotsa cool cars. saw the all-star 200 race and some sick drifting demos. i think #12 calsonic impul z won the gt500 division of the all-star race. im gonna miss the D1 drift competition tomorrow which is usa vs japan cuz im gonna be in tahoe XDDD. it looks like the japanese team has a definite edge, granted they did invent this technique.

weather was sunny, clear and gusty during the day but the wind died at night so when the drift teams were practicing again the smoke from the tires didnt go anywhere, it just stayed on the track for a while and then drifted over the far stadium. it looked really funky.

hmmm, there was a concert tonight. it was okay, i guess, neither especially bad nor good. the concert band music is very dull and i envy the wind ensemble for their more interesting choice of music. i suppose it is a reward for hard work and practice. XPP cookies and stuffs in the mpr afterward was fun.

the wind ensemble singing piece started off really pretty like. then around the middle or so my mind wandered off thinking about how gregorian chant type music would be really cool and how hard it would be to find. when i came back to the present it was near the end of the song and it wasn't as interesting anymore. the second time when they played was practically the same.

came home and parents wanted to take pics for christmas cards. sit around waiting for brother to change. go outside cuz house is too messy. stand around doing nothing while dad twiddles around with the camera. this goes on for a while til he sets it off by accident. can't set the timer again for a while. finally figures it out with brother's help. take a pic. 'one more.' twiddles some more cuz cant figure it out again. takes pic. 'one more' 'no! we're going inside!' end.

so there i was looking for random info on GitS when i decided to find english->japanese for 'ghost'. turns out 'rei' means soul/ghost as well as many other things. it also happens to be the name of a character in a particular anime series. rei is a really cool word. i think i might name my baby rei. <.< >.>

went to cha with a bunch of fun ppl and had a boba fight with justing and rick. i think i lost, i've got all these dark spots on my sexy light grey shirt. then justin hit me with a cheap shot. a whole mouthful of pearls at point blank. oh the humanity! then my dad gave us a ride home. there was me in shotgun and rick, justin, kiyoshi in back seat. 3 fatties in a seat meant for 2 and 1 skinny. then michele and soan sat on their laps. it was pretty squishy, but i had plenty of leg room which is what's important XDDD

i forgot my jacket at school. and i just realized its the weekend so i cant get it tomorrow. >_<

whee! i've had homeworld 2 for several weeks now but i just recently got around to playing it. there don't seem to be many space strategy games so i'm glad this is a good one. it makes be think of ender's game when he's commanding the fleet against the buggers and it also realizes my fantasies about tactical space combat. i need to work on my micro management and the important little details pertaining to 'why my fleet is getting pwnt.'

whoooo! today was really fun! except for the school part, but that was sorta unavoidable. classes were unusually productive. most minimum days are just socializing but i had 3 quizes and a 40 minute 'write lotsa numbers' session.

after school, however, was kick ass. played football on the hill then went to eat lunch at kfc. oh yeah, jimmy came back so it was good to see him. saw the incredibles at woodbridge family theater. it was really funny and if you stopped to think about it the story was deep and well thought out. afterward we played football in the field across the river. then came home and played lotsa aa and watched gto. except for the blatant hacker it was fun.

damn i wish i had wow right now. got a lot of free time on my hands which i could be using to level up and get moneys and quests and nifty items and skills and such. ahhhhh, maybe santa will bring it.

name 1:
this name must be feminine and have a chinese/japanese/asian feel to it. it can sound pretty and cute or deadly or fantastical or mythological etc.

name 2:
this name must include "fuzzy". other good words are "death, doom, pain, suffering, bloody, assassin, ninja" etc. etc. your choice of adjectives and articles and stuff like that.

name 3:

my cd player broke today. as i was getting into the car it fell out of my pocket. when it hit the ground the latch broke off. i intelligently picked it up by the earphone cord which came out dropping the player again. this time the top snapped off losing the spring that held it open. i snapped the top back on and it still functions but im still missing the latch and spring. i think i should just get an mp3 player. maybe ill put it on my birthday wish list. which isnt for 6 months.

ugh, yesterday was my mom's 50th birthday so we went out for dinner at roy's. stuffed myself until i was almost sick. then this morning we went out for dim sum because my cousins from tucson are in town. i am getting so fat.

hmm, comp prog moved to the regular computer lab. the room is at least twice as big and all the equipment is new. the keyboard is smooth and the mice are optical. however, i dont really like the chairs and the set up puts the monitor too low. luckily (or not?) im used to using the keyboard in my lap. also i am not placed so that i can observe the teacher as easily. no games! argh! i just realized that it would be great to play halo in here. ah well.

club kick off day was not bad. they seem to be going downhill since my freshman year. not that they are becoming shit, its just that my first clubapalooza was huge. every club was selling and there was a huge variety of stuff. maybe we're just running out of clubs, or its not worth the trouble of selling food. my mom and i talked about this. my freshman and sophomore years were a hell of a lot of fun, but i was too much of a dork to really make the most of it, and everything in comparison is less awesome because of the high standard.

today i went to cha because my brother had a craving and sent mom out to get some. we havent been there in a while cuz its getting rather pricey. met a new guy there by the name of phong. hes seen the first noir dvd and gave me a stamp card even though i got the trojan card discount. he also goes to uci so he is a cool dood. hes a the new guy so they dont let him make the tea and instead make him work the register. if anyone goes to cha say hi to phong.

went to alakazam also. saw a bunch of fun stuff that id like to have but cant because for some crazy reason they want money for it. maybe i can sell my organs to pay for manga. or someone else's organs...

bentley was being extra bitchy today. at the pep assembly she kept telling the brass to watch mike while conducting very prominently and out of synch with mike. then during 5th period she gave us wrong instructions regarding playing style and horn movements, drilled it into our heads, then told us it was wrong and redid the lesson. during 7th period she gave a bunch of people pushups for not imediatly memorizing a set of instructions. she then gave us a new set of instructions and when we tried it she screwed up the counts and commands several times. after that she messed up the high stepping and when several people corrected her she said something like "dont correct me, im right and youre wrong, youre at attention so dont move, im a fucking whore." after that she did the high stepping correctly. she did some more shit that made her look even more stupid during marching, but it was more general bitchley shit. since im such an understanding guy i just figured she was having an especially shit day and was taking it out on us.

i got seriously owned on the calc test from yesterday. i knew i did bad, but not as bad as i actually did. 62% after 4 extra points, fuck.

it seems that school itself is rather boring and all the fun stuff happens right after school gets out.

mr dawson visited today! practice was unusually productive. its too bad he left this year, we would be 10x greater if he had stayed. dawson is more marching oriented than bentley is so he knew what to do. hes also more assertive and interesting than mr austerman. nothing against austerman, but he lets bentley run over him. mr dawson could keep her in check. plus, he gave the band intensity. hes supposed to come back every 2 weeks or so. damn its good to see him again.

the game was more fun than i expected it to be, what with bentley being more evil and all. i think its because we knew our music better, had more of the band spirit going, and the football team wasnt getting murdered.

its pitiful. only 7 days into the school year and i already have an F in calculus. 50% to be exact. i didnt quite do half of the first days hw so i got 0/2 points for that. i did get the notebooks, 2/2. then we had a 2 point quiz, just write down the rule, easy right? i know these well, but im writing really slowly for some reason, wanna make it nice and neat or whatever. anyways, i suddenly find out about the very short time limit because i havent finished writing the second answer. 1/2. i finished the hw for the last 4 days, but she hasnt checked it so i cant get any points for it. so there it is, why i have an F in calc :

woo woo woo! fun fun time! school was a drag, as normal, but its friday! rejoice! and we got out relatively early cuz of pictures!

the real fun was at schmee's house. we attempted to start a game of risk, but there were too many people. its hard to have a fast game when you have 15 people crammed around a little table shouting at eachother. XO x15

we played mafia instead, which was excellent. a couple more people showed up so we played the rules with godfather and the brotherhood. o/-< o\-<

i think we played truth or dare next. the girls kept trying to get mike to reveal his heartthrob, but he parried each query with ease. the dares were kinda boring for lack of imagination. pinky turned red because due to a question with a rather obvious answer. ^_~

about this time i got the hang of flipping a pen around my thumb and catching it. achievement of my life. ^( " )^

we played taboo, boys vs girls. boys owned ~34-24.

we played "scene it." i didnt know any of the movies. or the actors or directors.

i started playing age of mythology. for the first 10 mins i didnt know how to do anything, but i figured it out eventually, seeing how it is very similar to aoe.

took a pizza break. i only ate 6 pieces. alex ate at least 1.5 pizzas. schmee prolly ate a pizza. according to justin, eating pizza and then a twinkie leaves a taste in your mouth very much like poop. 0_O

i dont remember what we did next, but after a while we went outside and played tag. that was a lot of fun. i hid behind bushes and radiators and things and did stuff like running around the houses and coming from behind. it made me feel really sneaky.

people started dropping off and going home so most of the rest of us went home too. cept tseng wanted to have a sleepover cuz his parents arent home. unfortunately i could not go because if i did my mom would kill me.

and now i must go to bed, as i have an early day tomorrow and must rise and the wee hour of 1130ish.

rawr. i hate mondays. first 4 classes were boring and painful. hanging out with the seniors-now-graduated gave me a premature case of senioritis. im having trouble switching back into school mode. need to manage my time better and allocate more for homework/study and less to games/goofing off. it feels like the rest of the year is gonna suck major ass, but it will probably get better.

i forgot to pack a lunch for today so i mooched food from people. master tseng, the king of mooching, taught me some stuff. i ended up with a small sandwitch, one potato chip, some grapes, about 1/4 box of chicken chow mein, some bits of beef, and a potsticker.

today was my first day at chinese school. taking cantonese at the chinese baptist church near yale and culver with my brother. saw luigi and kenneth there. went to grade 1. class started like this:

learned 1-10 and a few random words. can write them all cuz ive taken mandarin 1 @ uni, can say them in cantonese but my tones are off cuz i dont know what theyre supposed to sound like. pinyin for cantonese would help. wonder if it exists.
looked through the packet of stuff we're gonna learn and its not very much. maybe i can learn it all real quick and go on to level 2.

2 of my cousins went to ucla so we grabbed them both and drove for bout an hour to get to the campus. they knew all the nifty little tricks about getting through/around the worst traffic so it wasnt as bad as it could have been. the major con of going to ucla would definitely be the traffic and no parking.

after that we drove/walked around the campus and looked at the buildings. the buildings were made with a hell of a lot of red brick. its really not that bad, but i dont really like that much brick. the buidings at berkeley were nice. uci had even cooler buildings, but im definitely not going there.

only went inside boelter hall and the student union. boelter hall is the engineering building and just had a lot of classrooms. the student union was large and modern looking.

overall i must say ucla was interesting, but not horribly impressive. i dont know a whole lot about the academics there, so i have to give that a look. my cousins made it sound like a lot of fun.

yey! friday at last! this was only 2 days but it felt like an eternity. the first few weeks of school are really gonna blow.

football game was blah. for some reason alot of people really annoyed me. we started out really bad, rushing, dragging, wrong notes, not watching. it got a little better towards the end, but not much. we didnt play very much either. and we need some new songs. i noticed a serious lack of band spirit. everyone seemed too afraid of looking lame and didnt realize that when everyone is lame its a hell of a lot of fun. irvines show was so-so. lot of phasing problems, heel height at mark time, scootching at holds, intervals, the usual start-of-season problems. i really cant comment on their playing cuz i cant even tell whats wrong with my own sound. also, the football team got pwnt. 54-27

dennys was fun. more civvies than i expected. we also managed to keep the noise down and not get banned from another all-nite diner. i <3 meat lover skillet.

im getting beat down in plushie tycoon cuz i dont know what im doing. im trying to quantify all the variables and turn this art into a science, cuz i suck at art, but i think everything may just be randomized. or im just stoopid.

gonna visit ucla with my cousin tomorrow. punk doesnt start until 27.

oh yeah, i got national merit semi-finalist for psat. yey me! \^_^/ apparently i could go to university of arizona for free after i achieve residency. as this is where my parents have been trying to dump me there its possible i may end up there.

lessee, today i "missed" the band practice because i "forgot" to tell my mom about it therefore leaving me with no ride to school. actually, i really did forget to tell her. i really depend too much on her knowing stuff without me telling her. i should fix that.

im developing an unhealthy obsession with plushie tycoon on neopets. i think it grows from my craving for a good online empire game. ive played several, including astronest, imperial conflict, and time of defiance. i found ic and tod to be fun, but required too much time to manage as they were fairly real time. astronest fixed that by giving you turns which accumulated over time and then you could do all your stuff at once. but they died and never returned. this will probably turn out very badly with my grades taking the brunt of the suffering. plushie tycoon should be better tho cuz its so small scale, you just build plushies and make money, not take over the galaxy. if anyone does happen to know any good games, other than the ones mentioned above, please tell me about them.

i should have been doing some rather important things, but i kept procrastinating and pushing them off. i really need to fix that or im gonna get seriously screwed later in life.

today i tried to play my cracked version of halo on multiplayer. previously i didnt need the cd to play so everything was squishy happy. to play on the net i needed a patch. no problem, download and install it. after the install i suddenly need the cd. no problem, ive got the cd over there. put it in. problem, the cd isnt recognized as the actual game cd. cant even play single player. damn. oh well, i already beat it and i wasnt getting anywhere on legendary so i might as well uninstall it and save some drive space.

since ive sort of finished those extremely important things i think ill be moseying on over to the beach party. ^_^

marching band was painful, as usual. especially hot and sunny.

after school i found a tag to a school-issued combo lock. this is my first evil plan: i will check every lock for the one with the matching serial number. i will then use the combo to open the lock and have evil fun with the contents evilly. muahahaha!

shetloads of fun at del after practice. melted crunch bars = delicious and entertaining. this is where i hatched my second evil plan. i bought a macho soda cuz it comes in a plastic cup. i kept this cup and i intend to take it with me whenever i go to get free soda, muahahaha!

after that more fun playing mafia at schmee's house.

the performance was so-so and the presentation was boring. the quantity and assortment of cookies was disappointing. everyone was also especially pushy and shovey.

after that more fun hanging out with the bandos. finally got home a lil while ago. soan was especially vicious today. she attacked kiyoshi while playing a balancing game. first she tried to slice his throat with her wicked sharp finger nails. after that failed she attempted to gouge out his eyes with the same nails. luckily kiyoshi didnt suffer any lasting damage.

now i get to wash the dishes and pack for a weekend of fun in sweltering tucson, az.

today ms. soan park found a neat little pen in mr. mike tseng's car. its got a rubber dolphin on top and when you push a button it makes a sqeaking sound. she found it at lunch and kept it all day in order to annoy the hell out of certain people. she also bit me.

i am mildly annoyed by the fact that we did not learn the command for flanking, even though we have practiced the actual move. we also havent practiced changing directions. i know it is not really necessary to know these things, but it gives the band a little more flexibility. and we also can not to drill downs, which are a hell of a lot of fun.

got to the movies early so we watched ~20 mins of bourne supremacy.

successfully saw hero. the music was good, but i didnt really like it. the wire-fighting was so exaggerated it was just silly. the story was pretty good, though a bit hard to follow. it definitely wasnt what i was expecting. overall the movie was ok. d(- -)p the audience was also much smaller than i expected.

wah, registration is tomorrow! the weekend is too short! i dont want to go back to school! T_T

band car wash today. didnt last as long as the ones last year. we actually ended around the target time. didnt make as much money either. my sources tell me we made about 600$ after expenses. i guess thats still pretty good for not advertising or pre-selling tickets.

collin stopped by, which was cool. everyone was slacking off though so he ended up doing alot of work. it was annoying seeing cars sitting around needing washing/rinsing/drying and a bunch of ppl 10 meters away shooting the breeze. alot of the cars werent washed very well either. the cleanest ones to leave were the cleanest ones to arrive. my moms windshield was really dirty. you could barely see thru it.

after that we chilled at schmee's house. i never knew it was so close. played mafia. it was fun. had to leave early and missed the pizza. wonder if it was any good.

now im at my cousins' house cuz they're cool to hang out with. my cuz is going to uc san diego so his family came down to help him move in.

warhammer 40k is getting revamped. 4th edition rule book comes out in late august. oh my, thats now, isnt it? assaulting and vehicle rules have been changed a lot, but the army lists are unaffected. except for imperial guard, which was really changed, and i think they're much cooler for it.
